About Us

Constellation Schools: Westside Community School of the Arts first opened its doors in the fall of 2007. Westside offers students an integrated educational approach that places an emphasis on the arts and music in addition to the core subjects that are traditionally covered.

Each student has at least an hour of art in their daily schedule. Students in kindergarten through 4th grade receive 30 minutes of visual arts and 30 minutes of music daily. Our 4th graders also have the opportunity to participate in orchestra. Students in 5th through 8th grade can choose their one-hour art class from visual art, vocal art, band, and orchestra. Some students even choose two of these four programs.

The Arts Program provides students with extensive opportunities in a variety of areas:

• Visual Arts – drawing, painting, sculpting, computer graphics, photography
• Orchestra – beginning through advanced classes
• Band – beginning through advanced classes
• Dance – beginning through advanced classes
• Theater – beginning through advanced classes
• Choral Music – general choir, show choir, and other choral groups

The school offers small classes, typically no more than 25 students per class, providing individualized instruction. All of our teachers are state licensed and highly qualified. Our teachers prepare our students to become successful, well-rounded, life-long learners.

In addition to a state-mandated curriculum, our school offers daily art and music lessons, piano lessons, physical education, and character education. Character Education is a building block of our curriculum and helps teach our students the importance of being responsible citizens and contributing members of society. Our highly qualified teachers integrate technology into their classrooms to ensure that each child is successful and prepared to meet the demands of the 21st century.
